Tank teardown

Hey all!

so in 2 yearss i'll be going to college and i have to tear down my tank unfortunately, so wbat do you suggest i do to keep my live rock alive as i want to get back into the hobby after college

I’d trade it in at an LFS for store credit and just buy new live rock from them when you’re back. All of my LFS have at least one tank full of wet live rock.

my lfs doesn't sell any rock unfortunately, is it possible to store then in a tub with powerheads and ghost feed once in a while?

I guess so, I keep some live rock in a dark bin with a powerhead for flow. Just started a new tank using it (it had previously been real Live Rock but was in the bin for at least 3 months) and completely skipped a cycle (tested for ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite for a week straight, never any ammonia except for the first 12 hours or so) I did use ‘dirty’ tank water from my other tanks though. I think this method should be fine

keep the tank in college.... Seriously that is actually when I got into the hobby 4 years ago. I kept a tank in my dorm. keep it under 30 gallons and you should be good. Don't give up!

This is what I’m planning on doing. My 20 gallon is coming with me!

i'll be studying abroad so there's like 0 chance for me to bring my tank over to another country lol. i could get a new tank when i'm there who knows
