Hello Everyone, Now that it is getting warm outside I think it would be a good time to have an open discussion about what temperature you should keep your reef at. Any one that wants to share advice that would be great. have a good day.

I Keep mine between 76-79. The ranges out there all seem to be between 74-82. I dont feel that the temp they are exposed to is a bad thing. Its the temp swing from say 76 - 82 over a short period of time that will do the harm.

I've always tried to stay around 78 with only a couple of degree fluctuations.

My first post. My tank stays around 79-80. I keep the heater set at 79 so there's minimum fluctuation. No chiller but lots of small fans. The one that makes the biggest difference is a fan blowing directly into the sump.

in the last couple days of the first heat in ny , i have watched my tank go from 76 to 79 in a matter of an hour, maybe less. my chiller has been running three times a day if not more. i just put a fan blowing into my sump are and one blowing near my lights on top on the fans already built in and my temp has finally stopped rising. now it's a steady 77.5 and hasn't moved in an hour. today has been a fairly hot day out as well.
