Hi Folks,

Ran into a problem where my water temperature is hitting 90 degrees, but not sure why. The temp in my house is set to 72 and the tank is not near a window. Although it is a humid day here.

Can it be my Mightyjet pump causing the temp to spike?

I powered off the ink bird heater but it didn't help reduce the temperature.

I just order some fans, but was not expecting to have to ever worry about this.

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure it's not a faulty measuring device? A piece of equipment would need to be pumping out alot of heat to raise the temp 18 degrees above ambient.

I used two different thermometers to measure.

I powered off the heater but maybe i should try unplugging instead.

The relay outlet on the inkbird probably failed stuck on.

I always recommend that any heater have at least on failsafe. For example you can have the heater thermostat set at 80 and set the inkbird to control the temp to 78. If the inkbird ever fails you have the internal heater thermostat as a fallback.

I don’t think it’s the heater - I disconnected the heater completely. The pump and wave maker are the only things running now. Water temp is still high (87 degrees). I’m afraid another few days of this and it’s going to wipe out the fish.

you think it may be the pump?

You could float a few frozen water bottles in the tank until you get your fans. 87 is still pretty high.

It is a Fowlr with mesh lid

Just noticed I unplugged the InkBird controller but heater was plugged directly into outlet
