Planning to get some clownfish today, but I'm wondering if my tank is too warm. It has gone between 81.9 and 83.9 usually stays somewhere between 82.6 and 83.6, so pretty stable and no huge fluctuations, I check the temp multiple times a day everyday. My snails and coral seem just fine at this temperature, and I lowered the water level a bit so my filter and skimmer agitate the surface of the water a little more to make sure there's enough oxygen. I also propped the lid up and turned my ceiling fan on the highest setting, figured the air flow would at least help prevent it from getting really hot (hasn't gotten over 83.9 yet though) I'm just wondering if an average temp of around 83 is too hot, or should be okay. Obviously it's not always this warm, just in the summer because it gets well over 110 where I live. Also my lights don't give off any heat.

Maybe hooking up a fan to blow on the sump?
No sump yet, building one in a couple months. I might try getting a fan for the tank if it goes up into the 84 range, but it's getting quite a bit of air now blown towards it with my fan going, I've been checking the temp to see if it's going down at all like this

Same problem here living in Miami. I ended up just buying a chiller. Totally worth the $400

They're a good and cheap solution for sure. Gets extremely hot where I'm at also and a fan blowing though the stand or right over the DT surface water will bring down my water temp by at least 2 degrees. Only draw back is I'm filling the ATO container with 2 gallons of rodi per day. I got no problem with that.

The thing with having warmer water is iT encourages the growth of some unwanted pests and algae , a better temp range would be 77-80 imo ..
I definitely would prefer the 77-80 range, so far haven't had any issues with pests or algae, I'm just wondering if it's safe for the fish, it will cool down quite a bit here in the next month, so maybe having to deal with algae for a month doesn't bother me too much.

I definitely don't have $400 for something I'm only going to need for another month or so, I may invest in one at some point though when I'll need it for like 3/4 months. Which one do you use/recommend?

I got my temp down to around 82 with the tank propped open and a ceiling fan going. I'm ok with that temp for now, if I can't maintain it, I'll definitely look for a cheap clip on fan.

The JBJ is what i use. Amazon sells them and have free shipping. But it stays hot here all year long so was a must for me

Awesome thanks!! Will definitely look into that for next summer, here it's like 110+ in summer, but the other 8/9 months of the year are perfect.

Your tank is too hot right now. Perfect place for cyno to began. Temp should be. The ideal temperature for a marine tropical fish aquarium is 78-82 degrees Fahrenheit. The ideal temperature for a reef aquarium is 75-78 degrees Fahrenheit.

I HIGHLY suggest that you get your temp DOWN! A friend lost everything in their 45 gsl cube because it stayed hot too long (over a week) find a way to place a fan blowing directly across the surface of the tank. As another has said your evaporation will go up considerably but you should see a 2 to 3 degree drop in temps.

At the twmps you are running you are corting trouble.
