doing a 125 mixed reef build (see here https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/125-mixed-reef-build.469786/ ) and want to get fish in ASAP as I don’t want them and corals sitting in plastic bins.

So the question being, if I move all my live rock from the 36 to the 125 and have 5 fish, will the live rock be as effective at biological filtration as it was in the 36?

Mind you I’m putting in 60lbs of arag alive special grade, have about 40lbs that have been cycling for a couple weeks and throwing in 8oz of dr Tim’s one and only

Yes you should be fine since you are not increasing your bio load. I did the same thing from a 29 gallon to 75 gallon. No issues.

I just did the same going from a 65 to a 150 with no problem. I had a slight diatom issue for ten days or so because half the sand was new, then all back to normal. I rinsed the old sand in saltwater until the run-off ran clear.
