Hi everyone. Currently I'm using a AR300 but got a chance to get the Red sea max s400 for a bargain price. My tank at the moment is having high nitrate, above 25 with I'm trying hard to lower it down with not much success. So there are 2 options for me
1st one is transfer the water in my old tank to my new one, and add extra saltwater just like I'm doing new water change and still treating the nitrate problem.
2nd one is set up a new tank, with new rock new sand and let it cycle then transfer stock from my old tank over.
So what everyone thinking? Can idea is very appreciated as I'm new to the hobbies. The tank Is only 5 months old.
Thanks a lot

Firstly welcome to R2R its great that you have joined the forums!

Well if it were me, I would start from scratch with clean water if you have issues such as nitrate, cycle the new tank instantly with one of the bottled bacteria (I use ATM Colony) and then transfer any existing occupants to the new 'clean' system after slow acclimatization of course

Just my view, and the Max S400 is a great tank, Ive got the S 650 and they are stunning

+1 with SPR1968 if you are not in a rush to transfer.

But, it can be done with a bit of work as you mentioned. It just depends on what you ultimately feel like doing. I'm sure if you want the transfer method we can help if you need advice vipboy25. Just let us know your preference, my friend.

I'm not in a hurry so just figure out what is the best way. My system is still new so I'm thinking of setting new rock new sand for a new tank so I can manage and adjust the parameter .

Then you know your answer, my friend. Honestly, I do the same if not in a hurry. To me its fun to restart something once and a while from scratch. :)

Do what you like with no regrets and feel at ease and just enjoy a new journey and please keep us updated with pics. ;)
