I have a pretty paranoid question about trying the tank transfer method in the future. Is it possible to accidentally scoop up tomonts or tomites when transferring the fish? I understand they like to cling to the substrate, but could it be possible to scoop up a fish that likes to stay on the bottom and unintentionally transfer ich to the new tank? Or am I being overly paranoid? Thanks

It is possible to transfer a tomont. If you are doing transfers at proper times you should be ahead of tomites or free swimmers.

While it is possible, it's very unlikely. If you are super concerned you can transfer from tank 1 to a bucket. Then use a new net to transfer from bucket to tank 2. This should eliminate the possible transfer of a tomont.

The bucket would need to be filled with newly mixed SW.

It’s possible, but the numbers are being reduced so much that it really doesn’t matter.

Run therapeutic copper in conjunction with TTM and it doesn’t matter if you scooped 1,2, or 10. Wink Wink. ;)

Copper with TTM helps and also yo'll have to be very unlucky to scoop out some on 2-3 transfers...
moving the fish from one bucket to another during transfer also minimizes the risk.
