Hello reefers!
Tank transfer method is my go to for prophylactically treating all incoming fish and as it dosent treat velvet I wanted to know what everyone else does to combat that. I haven’t had velvet enter my tank doing TTM and I wonder if the chances are lower if doing TTM vs no quarantine at all? Has anyone had velvet get into their display after TTM?
I was also thinking of trying to incorporate another treatment to combat velvet as well. I know some reefers putfish into observation for a few weeks after which I have done for “high risk” fish like tangs butterflies and rabbitfish
Has anyone ever used copper with TTM would that eliminate the risk considering the parasite only lives on the fish for up to 4 days or has anyone else tried a different method? I see Humblefish has a good article about using hydrogen peroxide but obviously nothing proven yet
let’s have a discussion!
