This could be the completely wrong place to post this but I'm not sure where else to... is it possible to have a tank in the stand of a current tank? Like an up and running completely second tank inside the stand of a current tank. Not a qt or a holding tank, just a completely separate tank... tell me if I'm crazy aha

Sure you could do that. Some people have sections of their sumps that are "frag tanks" or holding tanks for fish.

The non fishy people keep saying theres no more room for another fish tank.. but all I see is counters and tables that could hold a tank.

I've been there. I had 5 smaller tanks going at one point, all under 25 gallons. It got to be more work than fun.

There's always room for another fish tank

I mean if we moved around some furniture in our room then we could have at least 2 more... but nooo its alright too humid with the 2 in our room

I've always thought it would be cool to have several tanks stacked up vertically cascading into eachother, and all run off one sump. Just have the overflow of the top one drain into the second one, and so forth. Would just need a sump big enough to handle the extra water from several tanks if power is lost or return pump is shut off.

Sounds like a commercial system would be right up your alley.

I had a three tank setup like that. Wish I could find pics of it..
The larger (30gal cube) flowed I to the 20 gal cube which flowed into the 10 gal cube.
I built it out of acrylic and each waterfalled into the other. The 10 gal went to the 10 gal sump and water back up to the 30gal.

The water back flow for all three tanks is less then you think. It was only back flow when the power went out from the 30 gal tank and a little from the 10 gal until it was level with the over flow.

Each tank was a different category. Large was for the anglers, second was shrimp and third was blennies. 2nd and 3rd tanks had corals.

Anyone that has a sump inside the stand basically has a tank under a tank. Nothing stopping you if you have the space.
