Would it be possible to shim this or should I get a yoga mat? It’s a 40 gallon breeder. The gap is maybe 1/8th inch.

I would take a piece of 3/4 plywood and put that between the top of the stand and the aquarium. Then use the shins to level the aquarium.

The tank/stand are touching on 3 corners but on 1 is not, so putting a piece of plywood would still leave a gap.

Did you level your stand first? I think you find shimming the bottom corner of the stand will fix this. But you may need to put a piece of 3/4 ply on top to stiffen the structure first.

Try shimming that corner and see if that fixes it. If not I would plywood the top.

Shim between the “low corner” frame and the 3/4” plywood to close any potential gap between the tank and the plywood. For rimmed tanks, those self leveling mats are useless as those mats are meant to be used for rimless tanks. Using the 3/4” plywood top is your best option IMO.

...throw the level onto the tank, maybe you aren't actually adressing the problem. I would hate to see you shim everything only to find out something is actually wrong with the tank down the road.

Shim the plywood up we’re it is not touching .asp.Had a 40 leak from the same problem

I think looking at it again ther is no plywood put a piece of 1/2 plywood and shim up The plywood were the gap is if you leave the gap tank will leak

I used plywood and a mat

I had the same problem years ago on a stand I built. It was rock solid but the top was not completely flat. It was maybe a fat 1/8" off. I spread Bondo on the perimeter of the stand and put wax paper on the Bondo. Then, I placed the tank on the stand and made sure it was level. After a few minutes, the Bondo was cured and so was the problem. Rimmed tank, of course. Just in case the tank was not exactly true, I marked the back of the tank so I'd always place it on the stand the same way. Bondo sets fast, so it's nice to have a helper. HTH.
