That is a little high. It's not going to harm the fish, but it can encourage algae or bacteria growth. Thanks much I am new to this hobby it says phosphates are at 0.25 ppm is that good or bad.
How are you testing them??Thanks much I am new to this hobby it says phosphates are at 0.25 ppm is that good or bad.

What test kit are you using? It could be your test isn't sensitive enough. Is it possible it's because the tank is only a week old. What can I do to bring it down chemi pure elite is in the tank it says it will bring phosphates down?
I'm using the API master reef test kit. What test kit are you using? It could be your test isn't sensitive enough.
Normally, people like to try and maintain less than 0.03ppm (30ppb). You need to have the correct test set to read these low values.
If it is actually high, I would recommend letting it come down by doing regular water changes. Otherwise there are phosphate absorbent materials you can use to help bring it down. I wouldn't resort to those yet.
Ah, that one wont read accurately enough.I'm using the API master reef test kit.

The Salifert test kit for phosphate isn't bad. I use the ultra low range hanna checker. Expensive, but I find it the only way to read test results low enough.
I don't know much about the other test kits on the market.
Yup, I would wait it out. If you start having a problem with algae or bacteria then I would get a better test kit. Otherwise, your regular water changes will be your friend. So as of now what would you do if you were me wait it out or what?
Yup exactly what he said! I use the same one! you can usually tell what your phosphates are doing by how often you need to clean your glassAh, that one wont read accurately enough.
