This upcoming saturday i am moving my 120g into 180g

any tips to make this successful transition

A direct work thread for the job :) :

highlights-

don’t add any old sand

ramp down lights in the new tank

no matter what sand you use in the new, it is rinsed in tap water in sections in buckets under tap until 100% clear cloudless. Last rinse for the section is RO, set aside. Use only this pre rinsed sand, your old rocks moved over, and it will skip cycled if the rinse was 100% thorough. fifty pages above is disassemble, rinse tap, RO, reassemble, skip cycle.

the most dangerous thing you can do is move any degree of old sand even though 200 people have done that. The only thing one can do to attain fifty pages of skip cycles is tap rinse to the hilt, even a mere ten reefs lost per 300 above is unacceptable, only perfect skip cycle is acceptable.

Guaranteed to work then. Other ways we’ve seen mini cycles were exceptional cases where live rock sat in place long enough to adhere and plug up all the bottom channels. When sat in a holding container with fish, we think this releasing of waste back into the holding tank killed the anthias/ sensitive

isolating detritus is really the key.
