tank transfer/upgrade question...
Well here's a little info on what i've got...
75 gallon display, 30 breeder, das ex-2 skimmer, 3 250 watt aquamedic pendants, a fuge abotu 30x16.
I'm looking at upgrading to a 250 this summer. Only problem is the new tank NEEDS to go where the 75 presently is. There's no other options.
Has anyone succesfully broken a tank down into 100 gal rubbermaid containers and kept a reef tank alive for about 1 month while the new tank gets put together. I say 1 month because I plan on running 2 dedicated 20amp circuits. redoing the floor underneath, building the stand as it'll be too big to fit through the door. all the plumbing, etc etc.
I think If I setup 2 100 gal troughs with the skimmer, some flow, a 250 watt over each, that the corals and fish should survive the month (hopefully less!).
Anybody ever had to do something like this? All opinions on the safest, best, cheapest way will be greatly appreciated. I really want a bigger tank, but really don't want to risk losing everything!
here's a picture of the tank that will be broken down.
