Honestly I think I made the dumbest mistake. I think while messing with the plumbing I must have pulled the sensor up. Then when I turned the pump back on and the water level in the sump fell it caused the sensor to be out of the water all night. This the heater came on and stayed on.Are there heaters in the main tank, or only the sump? Is there a temperature difference between the main tank and the sump? If a powerhead was moving the water around in the sump it shouldn't have triggered the heater to superheat the sump water.
Always the simplest explanation
