Before we knock it let's remember it's a Tv show and television needs to be entertaining. How many people would watch it if the entire show was discussing water quality or proper pH levels. When I watch a show I want to be entertained. Whether or not the tanks they build are still up and running is irrelevant. These guys are artists imo, sometime has an idea for a tank and these guys bring it to life. I know the amount of filtration may not be adequate but when someone wants a juke box converted into a fish tank but still wants the jukebox to play there is only so much space you have. You would figure that the person who ordered the tank knows that it will be more for show and that stricter maintenance will be needed

I'm with you...
I like the ideas they come up with for some of these tanks...they are very fun...
Would I have a crazy themed tank in my house....no...
But I also prefer to know and understand what I'm getting into instead of thinking of a 'showpiece' for my space that I may not now how to take care of...

Me, for one, and I'm sure I'm not alone. But then again, I'd watch someone handmake a duck call, weld an exhaust, wetsand a paint finish, mill baffles for a suppressor, or operate heavy machinery at a gold mine. I appreciate the talent, it's the rest of the junk, fake drama, and idiocy that I refuse to support.

Hey Tanked Is what convinced my wife to let me go from an 8gallon nano to 92 gallons. They are successful so they must be doing something right.

Agree 100% everyone will have their opinion but in reality good or bad we still talk about them because they are very relevant in this hobby.

If you want to skate board on your SW tank, It's your right until the government finally places restrictions on fish and corals, as they have done with other animals over the years. It sends the absolutely wrong message our hobby should be exposing the public to. So I watch the show as well, while I cringe. Why the beauty of the tanks inhabitants aren't enough, they want the tank to dispense beer. I guess I feel like the real motorcycle fabricators when they watch American Chopper crank out theme bikes. I am sure ATM has real tanks they are proud of that haven't been on TV. They seem like nice guys.

I am sure that no one, including those that have complained that they hate the show would turn down tens of thousands of dollars to build tanks that people or companies want just because they are not practical or millions to put on a show that you have no editing control over. These guys are good at what they do, let's not knock them. After all, they are building what the customer is requesting. Also remember that they do acclimate the fish they Unfortunately just don't go to much (if at all) detail into explaining the importance of doing this but again that could be editing or not. They also build large regular tanks that are still up and running today, it's just no one likes to talk about those. The show is not for everyone. Some like it and some don't. Do I think it's Emmy award winning stuff, NO. But do I think it could be entertaining and something I could watch worth my 11yr old son, YES. In today's programming where everything is Real Housewives, Jersey Shore, sex, ******, foul language, killing, drugs, zombies, ghosts, aliens etc. .. leave me with Tanked

I don't deny it's clean family fun. And I don't deny they are pretty good acrylic manufacturers, all though Disney may be rethinking that right now, I guess if I were that manufacturer I would refuse to build a skate board ramp tank. It brings unwanted heat from folks like me. I'm not alone in this, but probably in the minority. Too many other worthy and less controversial tanks to build. Like the church tank, which was awesome.

FYI, I contacted the producers at Animal Planet about participating in the show. I wanted to build a real reef and though the viewers might get off on that. The deal is that if your selected, they pay for the tank and filtration, you buy the live stock. There is an extensive pre-interview process. They don't get paid by Animal Planet as much as you think they would. They have had pretty good ratings, so maybe they got raises.

I didn't get selected, perhaps because they sell fake coral inserts.

Oh really...? They pay for the tank? Now I'm interested.

I am not too sure

I like the show and I think they are excellent acrylic builders and such, but as far as being good people, i'm not so sure. There was a tank from the show that they built around where I live, and the place went out of business. The guy Brett or whatever took back the more expensive fish like the puffers, and triggers and tangs etc. but he left behind all of the other fish like chromis and damsels and all of the gobies. he said that they were the "junk fish." and just left them in there to die...in a cold dark tank.. so yea we raised hell and ended up getting the fish. I like the show because it is entertaining, but they don't show what happens behind the scenes, and NOTHING at all about what happens after they leave.

ill watch anything that has to do with reefs and tanks in general..This show is the only one of its kind.

Yeah, I watch it. I enjoy it. I just...sometimes I want to strangle them for their stocking choices, especially fw.
