tankmate suggestion

120 gallon mixed reef, I have 5 yellowtail damsels and 1 yellow tang.

Any suggestion for colorful but hardy fish?

Some I have in mind: hippo tang, percula clown, blue jaw trigger

It might be difficult to add smaller fish with the yellowtail damsels. I personally would try a sturdy flasher/fairy wrasse in there, and if the damsels give him trouble then the damsels gotta go.

thanks, is it generally works that the smaller fish won't bother the larger? And hopefully the damsels are busy fighting each other so don't bother the new larger fish

tank is too small for a hippo. barely enough for the yellow tang. clowns are damsels so there could be problems. I would get a clown that is not a small juvie. a maroon will hold it's own.

Damsels typically fight amongst one another, and then find a little hole in a rock and defend it fiercely (even from larger fish just swimming by.) I'd ditch the damsels.

You could get a foxface, some flasher wrasses, anthias.... A dwarf angel

Your choices are pretty good in a tank that size

As far as damsels go, yellowtails aren't that bad.

A Moorish idol will get too big, if it lives, they are a difficult fish.

Possible options include flasher, fairy, or small Halichoeres wrasses., grammistes blenny, watchman goby, diamond goby, a trio of randalls anthias, zebra dartfish, bangaii and pajama cardinals.

I got a yellow watchman goby and a dwarf angel an Eibli Angel to be exact and and a occ clownfish my fav is the Eibli Angelfish my less fav is the yellow watchman goby the clown is in between the two and I agree the damsels may have to go
