It has been a year since I started running AF. I upgraded my lights in March 16 and my corals really colored up and really to took with growth.

I will post my results here and my thread also. From what I understand life bio fil is a hot item and move quickly when available. I ordered the 5000 ml size. I am still running 1/4 cup of GFO and a cup of carbon in the sump. Tossed the marine pure balls.

Thanks for the info, I'll order some tonight.

Are you running Zeo as well? I have gfo, carbon and zeo in a dual reactor right now.

2 months into a fresh AF start and so far so good. Starting to be more aggressive about adding SPS and they have nice polyp extensions. Acans are addictive! Got too excited and probably overdosed AV and have a brown/red algae outbreak but I can blow it off the rocks. Frags are growing nicely and I snagged some nice larger colonies from a recent swap.

FYI haven't had to dose NP-pro/ProbioS at all. NO3 0.2 and Phos 0.02. Siporax and Matrix are the main filtration.

Just, life bio fil, GFO, and carbon. I was running zeovit and pulled it.

Nice looking crops!

I started dosing Aquaforest 1 2 3 yesterday. I started small and dosed 5 ml of each component in my 120 gallon+40 gallon sump system. Today I see some burnt tips in my purple stylophora. I tested for alk and found it to be 9.64 which is about right for my tank. Should I stop dosing? The component 1 solution in the dosing container also seems kind of cloudy. Is that normal? Thanks!!

@ranjan0120

Are you mix your own? or purchasing the premixed? 1+ is the Ca, Mg and yes that one is cloudy. 2+ is you alk and you can stop dosing alk and dose the rest. for reef tank on should be running the alk between 7.8 and 8.5. Your alk is high anyway. what salt are you using? and what test kits are you using?

@jsker

I purchased premixed. It is good to know that the component 1 is cloudy because I thought there is something wrong with the product. I use Hanna colorimeter for alk testing. I purchase salt water from lfs and i believe they use IO/red sea. I usually don't dose the tank as weekly water changes seemed to work just fine for the corals that I have. Now that the corals are growing I thought I should get the dosing system in place.

I have been very satisfied with AF products though I am keeping it very simple. I have been using them for about six months more or less. I only dose Comp123 , Pro Bio S and NP Pro. I keep 5 liters of Matrix in the sump. Other then this , I only dose AA each day and some Neo Nitrate to keep the nitrate up. I have been feeding the fish and corals very heavy trying to improve the availability of nutrients. I would like growth to speed up a little bit but I a happy with color. My display is very shallow so I start with the smallest frags that I can get, no more then one inch at max. This probably hinders rapid growth due to the fact that initially there is very little coral to add growth to. lol.

I plan on continuing my AF program. My biggest challenge has been keeping supplied with product. My LFS cannot always get the product in stock. I try to give them my business but I have started to order some on line as back up for when they can not get it in.

I have since removed some LPS and chalice from the system and it has reduced my consumption from 180/200 ml a day of comp123, down to 120ml a day. It is aready beginning to climb back though after just a week at the reduced levels. AF has been by far the simplest, most forgiving additive that I have used. A big challenge in having a lot of corals in a small system is that stability is difficult to maintain.

Does anyone know if there is a way to half dosages of aebv for nano tanks? Or would it be more of every other day? I've thought about just mixing one drop with 10ml of water and just doing 5 ml to the tank but I don't know if this would work

Yes - you can dose every other, or every 3 days.
Can I see your tank please? It will be easier to recommend dosage.
