@Anirban, I have done this for you numerous times... using the salt out of the same box...is always the same high reading mag..but I will test either tonight or tomorrow..
I think you always test the tank water and I am talking about the Alk not Mg. I am not concerned about the Mg. I am also concerned how a reef tank survive with such a low Alk for days.

Ok gotcha. I'll test tonight...and I'm not sure how a reef tank survives with that low of alk...

Calcium is around 490, mag around 1600 (usual)
Alk is higher than I want to. 10.2.... something is very off here
And this is brand new saltwater....

Oh man ....you are trying to say that saltwater with 10 dkh is showing 5 dkh in your tank? How frequently you do water change? How you measure salinity and what is the salinity of this new saltwater?

I'm thinking the same thing.

Domination have you tried other test kits to make sure they are both reading the same?

And this is not directed at anyone specifically but i am very confused on how this thread got to be a free-for-all of lost whatever you want. There are not many posts in the forum now because there are a ton of people asking questions here and I can't even find any tank pictures. Which is what this thread is for right?

Good idea, @domination2580 why don't you start a thread and @ use and we can come over and help you out.

It's not just domination, everyone would benifit from posting their own thread. It would be much easier for moderators and for people searching the thread to learn without asking questions and having to search through this thread.

Honestly I would just like to view this thread to see nice aquaforest tanks.

Done, thank you.

Let see your tank:D

Here you go, not a very recent shot but close enough. I have yet to get the good camera out yet sorry guys.
150 gallon marine land starfire cube, all wild and maricultured frags and small "colonies" with one or two exceptions. Tanks about a year old. Lighting is two 250w single end radium's (switching to 400w soon) in a modified reflector and 300w of reefbrite LEDs mounted on each side of the cube facing inward. There is 35+ fish in this display which you can barely see any in the picture and a large emperator is the center of attention, system is about 400 gallons or so.
