That is indeed what the package is saying but I thought the raise in dkh would be in line with the quantity of gram of kh buffer you add.
The solution is 80gr in 1000ml
This makes 8gr in 100ml.
If 10gr creates a raise of 3.3dkh in 100L, than 8gr would be 2.64 dkh in 100L.

I have a consumption of 0.8dkh in a 650L tank. How much should I theoretically dose?
I just bought kh buffer for my tank and counted on 196ml of the solution.
You are loosing 0.8 dkh in 650l system. So, if we start from 80gm in 1000l solution. 8 gm in 100 ml will increase 1.6 dkh in 100l or 4 gm in 100ml will increase 0.8dkh in 100l system. You system is 6.5 times than that so for your system (4gm x 6.5= 26gm) in 100 ml will increase 0.8 dkh. So, if you make 80 gm in 1000ml and dose 325 ml (26gm/8gm=3.25 x 100ml) per day then you replenish your lost Alk. You are currently underdosing. It will be wise to start with a little less than recommended like 275ml/day and then increase that to 325ml /day if needed.

I do understand the above equation, but what the box says:
10gr KH buffer increases by about 3.3 dkh in a 100L tank.
While 100ml buffer solution (which contains 8gr KH buffer) only increases 1.60 dkh in a 100L tank.
These are, at least to me, 2 different dosing results and kinda mess up my dosing set up.
According to your calculation, my 2L containers will only have enough for 6 days dosing instead of the 10 days which i was counting.

Yes, 2l should run 6 days. Are you using this to maintain kH level instead of the full dosing components?
As far calculation concern I tried that with few people and 100ml increases 1.6dkh always worked out. How much your kH drop when you don't dose the buffer at all for 24 hours?

I changed from Red Sea to AF for the KH dosing and calculated the KH dose based on previous consumption.
ALK is now at 6.7dkh and I have raised dosing till 208ml/24hr. Tomorrow I measure again and will adjust accordingly.

To start counting it fresh I will suggest dont dose anything for 24 hour and then measure how much you loose. Then start according to the calculations.

Both Anirban and myself had the exact same calculations. I also suggest starting a little on the light side with the dosing and bump it in.

Actually stopped in to look at kh buffer stuff...is this what I am supposed to add to my ATO reservoir? Or am I very confused?

You can add KH buffer to your ATO water to maintain or increase you alk. KH buffer is also one of the ingredients for 1+2+3+. Here is some more information on the KH buffer (link)

Thanks, it looks like I would mix the calcium, magnesium, KH buffer, and reef mineral salt into the ATO reservoir for proper balance after I properly adjust my tank levels. I'm trying to go with the ATO method as I do not have any type of reef controller or dosing system. I'f I'm going about this all wrong let me know.

I believe that is too much of a mix.
The principle of ATO is that it is rodi water and not salt water to be used to replenish the evaporation.
If you will mix the 3 big elements (Ca, ALK, Mg) all together you will need to know how much is your consumption for each of them and make the perfect mix based on the daily amount of evaporated water. Once everything is mixed there is no way of adjusting anymore.
I suggest you invest in a cheap doser to make this all easier.

I do not even know if you can mix the 3 elements all together. Here AF is to answer.

As suggested above you can not mix. Just use the KH buffer only in the ATO to enhance your alk only.

Gotcha. I will continue to do testing. to find out what I need. Right now my KH is at 7 and Calcium at 440.
