Do you see how the rubber is in the tip? The tip is missing off of your syringe. That would effect the draw of titration. I think it was a good idea to send off the samples. Make sure that you bag the samples sealed. Also mark the envelopes salt samples for testing. You do not to get the post office all crazy, think it is some thing else.

I use Salifert and no tips on those syringes. I'll buy a Red Sea and test using both. I know my Salifert is spot on, so should be interesting.

I used salifert test to...amd that came up as 1600 +

yes and the syringes that came with my kits had these tips. I bought a box of syringes on Amazon for replacements that have the same tips.

I noticed on a older mg red sea kit it had the flat plunger on the syringe vs the newer style plunger.

Good to know, and thank you for the responce I have been using Red Sea tests for about a year and half. My plungers have always been with the tip on the plungers.

I was going to try the older kit to test my salt and noticed the outdated looking syringe. The other thing that threw me off was the reagents had no expiration on the 3 bottles, only a lot number. The other kit had the updated syringe and reagents with expiration dates on them.

Again thank you, good point. I just switch over to a new Alk reagent last month and found out that the older not out dated reagent was giving me a much higher reading. So in turn I was lower my alk base on the test, and the corals were not happy and pale. I know we can get all crazy about measuring parameters, and parameters are important when there are issues to fix. Most of the time I go by the look of the system, and test just to see where the parameter are at.

I am looking forward to the AF test coming out to see how they work

Now, look t the second picture the liquid is filled till very end ie. 1 and there is very little gap in between them. Whereas in the assay you did the gap is .15 and thats going to effect the result. Also look at my plunger position with full liquid. Its at the very end of the syringe.

Earlier there used to be gap between the liquid and plunger but with this new one there is almost no gap between them.

yup thats the normal range and i have never found mine beyond 1350ppm and I am using them since over an year.

For mine the outdated syringe non expiration date was purchased in march of 2014 and the other kit has a expiration of 9/2017

I busy bought them this winter...where would I find the expiration date or mfg date?
