Any idea on why my mag is always do high...

We have walked this road, before No one really has any idea. From the different threads, posts, and data. AF reef salt consistently runs high with Mg with tested fresh mixed salt water. I has not ever been a concern for me, for the reason I test the systems water and make my adjustments. I have read one or two studies and in those studies there was no negatives of running high Mg is reef systems. I am alway trying to get my Mg up to a steady 1400 anyway and the high Mg helps.

And also now that my parameters are around stable how do I dose the components....id like my alk to be around 8.5 though

Do you have a dosing pump? That is the best and easiest way to keep steady numbers. I dose now 8 times a day and I am finding my parameters are running even more consistent. Every system doses different, what I would suggest is dose half of your tanks waters volume recommended by AF to dose. Are you mixing your own 1+2+3+ or purchasing the pre made? The homemade 1+2+3+ tends to be stronger then the pre-made and starting with half the dose is really recommended. The thing that you want to watch for is not to raise or lower your alk to fast. Alk is the one element that a reefer really wants to keep the most steady, and running a 8.5 is a great place to be for good growth. Too high of alk and the corals start not being happy and also to low. I am running an 8.4 and my system is very happy.

Once you start dosing and if your parameter is high or low, adjust up of down by one or two mls a day and let the change take effect. Test the next day before the dose, to measure when the system is at its lowest. Dosing more there are fewer low points

Heeelllpppp.... I'm getting cyano yells why oh whyy), I know it's because of the np pro and bio s but how to combat that from happening ?

I do not have dosers yet, plan to get one, I have the premixed ones to start. So I have the containers to mix everything in. Idk what af recommends for dosing....

In order to maintain adequate amount of trace elements in aquarium water, both Magnesium and Calcium levels need to be within recommended range (Ca 400-440 mg/L, Mg 1280-1350 mg/L) Typical aquarium with average number of hard corals requires approximately 50ml of each component per 100 l (27 US gal) of water daily. Dosage needs to be adjusted according to the consumption of macro-nutrients, and based on critical water parameters like Calcium, Magnesium and KH. If one or two parameters are still not balanced- we recommend to continue with administering equal doses of each component, and take advantage of one of our additives (Calcium, Magnesium, KH Buffer) to restore desired level(s).

Where are you Po4's No3's and what it your PH? that would be a start.

I have been dealing with cyano for the past year. Speaking with a few that have more knowledge they seem to think higher Co2 in the house contributes to cyano. I am trying a different method to get the cyano out of my system for good. I have used Red Slime remover and it has done really good for me, but the cyano keeps coming back because I do not think I get it all.

Also with cyano present in your system your Po4's and No3's will read lower.

The only issue I have is with magnesium....water changes don't help since the new saltwater mag is over 1600..

What does your tank test?
You and alway decrease the Mg in the 1+2+3+ mix

His is testing higher than 1600 apparently cause the salt is at that level .

This is my alk after testing. I'm having a huge brain fart. Do I read how much I used...correct? So am I seeing that it is at 6 approx. So then I used 4 which is only 5.6 alk? That's pretty low for just doing 2 water changes......

First mag had always been off the charts, then alk is low....I'll be getting a triton test and have it tested. Will take to lfs also to get it tested.

My I suggest going here and purchasing new syringes link. Then take you tests. use one syringe for each test. Do not cross contaminate the syringes with titrates.

I alway do a second test if my first one has a strange result.

I just did 2 water changes in the last 3 days....alk should not be that low after water changes.
