While pondering this weekend and offering my 230 up for locally, I've ran across several threads of tanks eventually bowing, basically releasing the center brace(s). My intention was to sell my 230 and focus on a few other smaller reefs until my tangs need an upgrade (my tangs are what keeps this saltwater hobby going for me, unfortunately not the Coral).
Regardless, while my wife and I discussed my future plans on my hobby, I stated I'd rather move away from the standard reef aquarium, which for me is always gonna be 230+, and focus more on making a lagoon or pond for my tangs in my reef room/man cave. My current tank is a used (unknown manufacturer) 72x30x25 reef with 2 glass center braces.

Anyway, to all that have had a hand in the tank emergency of a bowing tank, what caused it in your opinion and how did you trust your next tank from not making your house the Everglades?

Mine was caused by it being an old tank, 3 moves, and an old wood floor that couldn’t handle the weight of the tank on a second floor thus putting more pressure on one end.

Bad stands can cause a blowout, especially with acrylics tanks.

Poor construction, abusing the center brace, UV and/or heat damage to plastic. Lots of reasons for failures.

Buy a quality tank and take care of it, and it’ll last for decades.

So tonight, decided to share some pics of the unknown brand of the tank I was concerned about. Center braces and the construction / frame. Lmk what Yall think in case I can't sell it, might just set it up. Also, please don't mind how dirty it is, most is salt from draining it slowly (once it's in the garage, it'll be 100% wiped down).
