Personally, I'd keep looking! That's 48 whites to 24 blues! Gonna be REALLY white and your corals are gonna look drab! Plus it'll prob grow a lot of algae as it states! I have 34 blues , 12 uv's(violets) and 24 white Cree's over my tank, and i have the blues running at 70% and the whites at 35%! I'd look for something with a lot more blues than whites!

Well they have one that is the opposite, 48 b to 24 w.

I want it to be around 14000k.

That may be a little over that, not sure! But that's def better for a reef! I have no experience with them, but if they're decent, thats not a bad price!

Yea i was hoping more for a 50/50 blend. Each of the led units it removable so i may just be able to order a set of white ones to make it 50/50.

I dunno about that one, with all of the spelling mistakes and them saying it "promotes fish and algae growth" I'd pass. You can find a better deal for the $.

Spelling mistakes don't concern me. Most of this stuff is made over seas anyway and compared to some of the other ones I've seen floating around at this price range it seems to be designed pretty well. I know there are a lot of Chinese led systems out there right now. Even the evos and Apollos are Chinese. They never seem to have exactly what i want though. And if you look at some of the other lights that this taotronic makes they look pretty similar. They're using epistar leds which is nice. You can pop each of those light units out individually as well as the power supply. They company seems to be pretty reputable too, I've seen a long list of products they make. I know the warrantee would only be as good as the ability to cash it in tho.

Also if you really think about it you don't have to know jack about reefing to make these lights except the ratios of white to blue and what color blue to use. I'm more concerned about build quality and total out put.

I have one that is similiar to the one you're looking at. It's a good basic light. no it dosen't have the bells and whistles that alot of reefers want on their lights, but, it does what it is intended to do, produce light.the only thing i would make you aware of is that, the light dosen't have any optics on the leds, I have alot of light overspillage.

I'm probably staying with my halide. Most of the reason i wanted to go led was to save electric, but the unit i want is pretty much the same wattage anyway.

For that cost, and it being an unknown unit to most people, I'd stay away from it. Too many times, people try to skimp on price and get stuck with poor quality goods and wonder why their reefs don't thrive. Save up a bit more money and buy an ATI Sol Super Blue or a Radion. If you buy crap, your tank will be crap. Sorry, but that's the way it works.

I've seen people on here selling this same unit and using it with no trouble. Those sols aren't powerful enough for me. If i save to buy leds it will probably be reeftechs.

I've seen someone selling a very similar unit on one of the main forums. It sounded as though he designed them and had them manufactured. I believe he is selling them for around $499 and has several good reviews on them.
