If using tap water should I be concerned about adding salt right away!

For water changes or start up? No, adding salt isn't going to do anything or change anything in the tap water. If it has Ammonia in it, you really don't want to be using it. But you can use an Ammo lock to get rid of it.

Test your tap water to see whats in it. Mine is high in fluoride, chlorine and chloramine. Tap water can also have some other stuff that is fine for mammals, birds and reptiles but kill fish.

Don't use tap water....your setting yourself up for a very hard lesson.

When using tap water, you should be concerned about the chlorine, heavy metals and other contaminants in it. This is why most people use RODI water or distilled.
