Tap water got into acro tank

Hey reefers,

I had a bag of ice in my sump, 200 gallon acro system.

Pulled the bag out and noticed a hole. I guess one gallon of straight tap water got into the system.

I don’t have any RO water made to do large water changes. I am running a poly filter pad and am putting some carbon in.

Is there anything else I can do to remove the heavy metals and other contaminants from the RO water that got in?

I wouldn’t be concerned IMO.

I agree. That’s half a percent (less maybe if you add what’s in your sump) of your water. There was probably more contaminate on the outside of the bag the ice was in.

Id use the rest of the ice to make a cold glass of beer and drink it and relax

Literally do nothing.

early in my reefing career I used tap water. Plenty of other reefers did as well. Many still do.

Yea I just worry with the acropora colonies. They can be so fussy with water quality.

I think the issue with tap water is more long term. After years you’ll have buildup of some inclusions that you can’t get out. But that’s still filling it up completely over and over again over a long period of time.
