Just started using Reef Roids yesterday. Target feeding my individual corals.

How often should I feed them in this manner?

I only do it once a week. Very sparingly.

I target feed 2 times weekly, but I have found that some like it and others don't care. My acans and plates love it. My favias, sps, and torches couldn't care less, though I have seen 2 mouths on a chalice fight over some food, its really funny to see 2 mouths on one piece of mysis shrimp

Thanks for the replies. I’m feeding zoas, a Xenia, a mini mag anemone, and another one I can’t remember the name if(picture attached).

I read on other threads about 2-3 times a week.

Running HOB filter and Reef Octopus 1000 HOB Skimmer.

My son's blasto is a freak for it!

If I broadcast feed do I need to turn off the filter and skimmer for a certain amount of time?

depends on what you are calling your filter.

I usually turn my return pump off for about 10 minutes. so that means no skimming or passing through filter socks for 10 min..
I have a HOB with double bio wheels. And a separate HOB skimmer.

Reef Roids are great for zoas. I prefer to leave everything running and broadcast feed them. If you target feed them they close up and go into protection mode. If you think about it. In the wild ya can't shut the ocean off. So they collect what the eat off of flow.

My blastos are freaks for everything lol. Anything lands on them they close up like a tulip

I target feed my roids once per week and just broadcast feed the second time. As other have stated some really like it others don't care.

I just started mixing in reef chili as well. Nice thing about the chili is there are larger pieces floating around the fish can pick at so they are not so prone to rob your corals

I feed with reef roids once or twice a week, I target feed and it is more effective that way. I mix it thick and tun all the pumps and power heads off. The zoa's will like this, the xenia's like it thinner but I don't know how effective feeding it reef roids will be. They tend to use dissolved foods more. Reef roids tend to cause phosphates to rise, if you use it make sure you are measuring so you can feed appropriately

I target 2x a week and suspend feed at lights out 1X per week. Additionally the corals get remnants of frozen food added to system. They always get a meal

None of those really need to be fed imo. Xenia definitely does not need to be fed. The evidence for target feeding zoas is anecdotal at best. Mini maxi anemones prefer meaty food vs something like reef roids.

Reef roids is better for coral like sps or gorgonians.
