a couple months ago my tail spot blenny jumped into the pump section of my AIO tank there was no way to remove him without breaking the whole tank down and dumping him out so i just left him. Yesterday i broke the tank down figuring he was long dead by now but to my surprise the little guy was still alive. i didn't know what to do so i threw him directly in my new tank. once i threw him in there i noticed he was very skinny and weak, the power heads blew him around for a second until he found a low flow spot on the bottom of the tank. i turned the power heads and return pump off so he could rest for a bit. while inspecting him i realized his fins and tail were pretty tattered so i setup a small hospital tank hoping to nurse him back to health. when i went to catch him after it was ready he swam under some rocks and now he's moving around from tiny crevice to tiny crevice in the pukani rock so ill never be able to catch him. i guess the best i can do is spot feed him using the julians syringe thing and hopefully he pulls through.
his fins and tail dont look infected or like they rotted away or anything, he has all his normal color and everything but im just curious what could have caused his fins to look like that. ill try to get some pictures but i doubt im gonna be able to get a pic, he just sticks his head out of crevices when he's not totally inside them.
if i do catch him what could i do to help it.?
funny thing is i planned on giving him away before he jumped but now i feel like i gotta keep him since he's such a trooper...thats if he makes it but he seems to be doing alright from what i can tell

If you can catch him and QT him then you could either just observe or run antibiotics to help prevent any infection (metro, Kanaplex, furan2 or NFG). If you cannot catch him and doesn’t appear to have infection I’d spot feed him and provide the lowest stress environment as possible.

I think at this point I’d just offer small, frequent feedings and hope for the best. I think the tattered fins are probably due to malnutrition/stress more than anything...

If you have vita-chem or selcon, definitely could help.

Another possible cause for tattered, worn fins is simply the friction of being confined in such a small space.

It's pretty common in hatchery trout, for instance.

Well he’s still alive. He’s still chillin in the same rock structure but I have noticed he has ventured out a time or 2 to explore around. I basically got him trained with the Julian’s tool thing. I just keep it there filled with selcon soaked mysis and he comes over to it when he wants some. It’s kinda funny.!
