Get the tank and stand you want!
Get quality sump.
Get quality return pump.
Get quality heater.
Get quality powerheads or gyre.
Get quality lighting.
Get quality skimmer.
Must have quality ATO for stability.
Get all test kits.
You can find quality used on ebay and this forum.
Make a list of what you need and you can price everything out.
I hand my 120 for 6 months before it was setup. Gave me time to think about the stand and equipment.
I did have a small nano for 2 years to enjoy while deciding on my 120.
I have a 45gal 36x24x12 frag tank in build mode now for 2 months. Just picked up a 6 lamp quality Giesemann t5 unit used on ebay for $220.
Tunze 9410 used skimmer on ebay for $165.
As hard as it may be patience is golden in this hobby. Enjoy you new build
