i have some questions about the package rated for a 75 gallon

first did you get a lot of pest compared to the good guys?

second how high would the sand be in a 75 gallon with corner overflow?

third about how big was the rocks compared to say marco rocks per pound?

fourth did a lot of stuff lived if you fed phyto/reef roids, bene reef?

fifth did you find the cuc include was to much, not enough, or good?

sixth when would add a pair mandarins, a diamond goby, and a rainford's goby

what i'm trying to do is a heavy bioload skimmerless tank and i thought getting live rock might help because of the amount of filter feeders
also i will add fish slowly as i add different softies and lps

stocking thread got to my latest post for updated list https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/75n-stocking-again.776744/page-3

I suggest you get uncured gulf live rock. I suggest a sandbed 1”-2” deep. Also use sprecial reef grade aroggonite < 1mm diameter. For your 75G tank that’s about 100lbs.

[This rock is fully blanketed with colorful coralline algae's, these algae's come in multitudes of fascinating shades of purple, reds, oranges, peaches and yellows. Most rocks contain bryzoans, orange leather sponge, gracilaria algae, halimeda, sea grapes, cluster corals, and cup corals. All of our premium decorative live rocks contain seeded plant life, both macro and micro algae. All pieces are hand collected fresh from our gulf lease site by our diving staff and shipped directly to our customers. We do not use any chemicals in our process. The rocks pictured are for example only. All of our premium decorative live rock is as good or better than the rocks pictured. This is Florida Aquacultured live rock.
All of our live rock comes from our personal Federal Aquaculture Lease site located 10 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. All of our rock was planted on the ocean floor in 1994. So you can image how much marine life has grown on it in over the last 15 years. We have live rock in all different sizes and we can custom fit your order. Our premium decorative live rock starts at $5 a pound. We offer wholesale prices on larger volume orders.]

i already have special grade sand but i want o switch it out with live sand to help with diamond goby and also i want all the weirdness that comes with live rock/sand

edit: three things i think i should mention
first i don't have fish in the tank yet

second what i really enjoy about the hobby is the weird thing i find it fun to take a jar and scoop some water and mud out of creek or pond so not really here to have a pretty tank

third i'm in high school so i have a some what limited budget i can earn a decent amount of money it just a take 1-3 months for something expensive IE(live rock/sand)

Unfortunately I just saw another post that indicated that TBS has shut down indefinitely due to covid:(. Hopefully they can come back once things get better, but for now they are no longer taking any new orders.

it doesn't say anything about that on there website

I suggest you use dry sand and establish nitrification bacteria using ammonia. Once nitrification bacteria are established then add uncured lube rock. With no fish as predators, allow micro fauna and fana to establish themselves in sandbed. For 6 months allow the little people to proliferate. Manicure undesirable grow and enjoy your natural reef.

I think this just happened very recently. Here is the message that someone received from TBS the other day:

i don't think i will get the amount of diversity in sand just using rock so maybe i could add 1-5 pounds to help add some sand specific creatures

For my money, live sand is overrated. However, live sand is available from Gulf Live Rock. If you had ever seen their live rock, you would realize you need nothing else to seed your tank with so much more than micro fauna & fana.

If you live within driving distance of an airport, next day air freight cost $100 for first one hundred pounds than $50 for each added 100 pounds. Do a group buy to spread out transportation expense.

For your 76G tank, 100 lbs of live rock would cost you $600. Startup with abundant biodiversity is the single most important phase for establishing a natural reef.

Happy reefing.

I agree! Get the best live rock you can. You will not be dissapointed.
IMO its the single best thing you can do for the longevity/ success of your system.
I will take and deal with pests over a sterile environment anytime.

Feeding on any system is a balance.
I have always had systems with live rock.
My 120 has 35lbs live and 35lbs caribsea.
Cant tell the difference now.
Frag system is similar ratio of 50/50.
