There was a lot of controversy around this movie, but what I understand, the main takeaway is that they're changing the stories in such a way that they don't have the same messaging or impact that the originals had.

But therein lies the problem, doesn't it? They want to print money using the original title that people know and love, but they want to make a different story for a variety of reasons. What they end up with is a movie that's really for no one.
