Nice corals.



The EXIF data in these JPEG files indicates these photos were taken less than 1 month apart; specifically Jun 10 and July 7, respectively.

To clarify on the Rainbow Fusion colony picture. The first photo was taken 4-5 months after the acropora had been acclimated to a large mixed reef high nutrient LED lit system. Shortly after, I moved the colony to an ULNS (Red Sea Products) t5 lit system and it began to quickly lose its dark undertones, and become more pale (second photograph). It has since been moved into a Zeovit system, and is still quite alive, growing and has nice color. Hope this clears everything up. If anyone currently has, or has had issues with anything purchased in the past, please shoot a PM over to the TCK account.

I have just purchased 9 pieces - a duplicate of the Hot 8 Pack (https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/coral-kings/187690-hang-tank-8-pack.html) and a frag of the Gold Rush. I'll make sure to take many pictures and descriptions. I'm really hoping they are not super tiny nubs. I know, however, they will be somewhat fresh cut so I'll ask for them to be held for some time. Crossing my fingers.

You guys kill me honestly lol. Those picture were taken 6 months apart. The darker colony was taken when it was in our system for about a month under very low light. The other picture which the colony looks lighter in color is grow in a zeovit system with very hight light over it. I hopes that clears up the confusion. If you kept acros you know they can change color and growth patterns depending of light and flow. Both pictures are the same acro.

I think clarification is on it's place here but really not necessary.
Many hobbyist that buy wild colonies know that it still can morph into something nice or not so nice.
I had two packs from them just to try it out and I must say that all been growing as expected.
Some not as the pics show but that's the beauty of this hobby.
Had many corals from a lot of vendors here and yes aqua home grown are more dependable than wild, lights, nutrients and position can make or break a color IMO.
Will buy again in a hearth beat if they show a nice piece.

Some of you may have noticed that several posts (actually a lot of posts) have been removed. They were removed for several reasons. Some of the posts were feedback posts, quoting of posts that needed to be removed or were off topic from what the OP had posted. This thread is supposed to be about photos of corals from TCK.

As far as the feedback posts go, trust me I do not like removing these posts but these posts do not belong in the regular forum. I have said this many times, but I will say it again. If you have feedback to offer about any vendor, PLEASE make a feedback thread. I think it is important that more members do this. This way we can be better informed before we place our orders with any vendor.

I'm not a mod (obviously) but I would rather have seen this thread locked than posts removed. The posts alluded to the shadiness of the photos which in strange way kind of on topic, lol.

We cant say our opinions in vendor threads because he pays for it and controls it. So it gets deleted. We cant say here in sps section because its feedback. That feedback is important i
in deciding the color and growth of that coral. Only place we can post is feedback. So if a newbie doesnt check feedback he is out of luck and probably out of money.

I agree, posts shouldn't have been removed. I know for a fact my comments (except for the last one) was in regards to my experience looking nothing like the photos. It was on topic. Feedback can be provided sure..but this was people sharing their common experience to help one another. poor moderation move on your part IMO.

I can see this both ways. On one side, yes, this is supposed to be about photos of TCK Corals and issues with the vendor was going off topic. I also see this on the other side - if you purchased said corals then it was definitely on topic to talk about how they looked when you got them. The posts should not have been deleted, the thread could have been locked instead and a new thread opened up. One thing I would like to say, however, is that if you had issues with the corals you received and its representation you should post pics of what you got so we can compare it to the pics posted by the vendor. That would certainly have kept the thread on topic. Just my 2 cents. I will make sure to do so when I receive my shipment. I've talked to a few other members who've purchase and have been reassured that for the most part what they received they were happy with. So without pictures as proof, all that talk that was deleted was hearsay.

+1 to the above poster. Maybe i am a bad sps keeper and my water quality was not that great. Also the frags could have taken a beating in shipment. Please post pics when you recieve the frags.

Lets be honest here. Those of us that know SPS KNOW that frags will never look as good as the mother pic, especially after clipping and shipping stress. At best, you get a decent colored frag but its usually blah and that's fine. The Vender appears to have nice stuff, and I would love to have frags of those pieces. The issue here is the vendor got caught in a bold faced lie and cover up. That is shady as hell, and at the very least questions the integrity of the company. I have no problem with Photoshop and enhancing pics. I think from an artistic point of view it makes for some very pretty pics to look at. My problem is that long winded excuse for a story and trying to justify the difference in pics with total BS. Deleting of the posts gives the impression of an inside job. Honestly, I'm surprised this thread is still around. Sorry for the fire starting, but I think my feelings on this are not out of line.....

I can't say I really believe in the whole "shipping stress" excuse. These corals are handled and shipped multiple times before they finally get from the ocean to the vendor. One night in a dark box isn't going to make a huge difference unless the UPS guy plays basketball with the box or the box is shipped from hot climates to cold ones and there is inadequate insulation/heat packs to keep the temperatures regulated. In those cases, the coral will probably just die in transit. Color loss usually occurs when it gets into your tank and has to acclimate to your parameters and lighting at which point it will probably turn brown in days or weeks then either color back up, RTN/STN, or morph into something else after it gets used to your tank. I've ordered from many different places - AquaSD, Jason Fox, Cherry Corals, etc. and the corals look pretty **** close to the WYSIWYG pics they post sans the obviously saturated and cleaned up Photoshop pics that practically all vendors do.

This is also why I never buy SPS just from seeing mother colonies. They will never look like that, obviously, because you are buying just the tip of one of the branches. You have to go off WYSIWYG pics or frag pack pics to get a more accurate representation of what the frag might look like when you get it and the mother colony pic is simply what it might become when it grows into its own mother colony.

I've had corals from different people/vendors and some looked just like photos and some not so much. If you ask them to hold them to color up they will do it for ya.
My experience with RR was the same. For the money if they look anywhere near the colony pics I think it's a good deal. You can only do so much saturation with photoshop before it just looks weird. So the base colors have to be there to start with. As long as the corals start to color up after arrival I don't see it as being a problem. That just the way it is with shipping small frags. Bigger ones usually keep color better in shipping.
I wish my tank was in better shape to color up corals so I could show what I have. So far the ones I have that are coloring up nicely:
Rainbow tenuis. It's a nice blue right now. I haven't got the other colors yet.
Pink Tenuis. Same. It's tiny but blue no pink yet.
Gold Rush .. looks like photos.
Pikachu..mine is just yellow in the tips for now.
Mardi Gras. . bright yellow.. for now mine is just yellow.
Highlighter tenuis.. looks about like their photo. It's a lot hairier in person.
Blues clues zoas .. they look like their photo.
Orange apple juice. Looks about like their photo.. Mine colored up and then I lost the pink tip as I'm having some dino problems.
Hypercane. Still brown
Blazing bonfire still brown
acroberry.. I'm starting to get some pink.
hairy green looks like their photo.
hairy mike. Mine is still brown I think it will take a long time as it's small.
Fuchsia volcano. it has a hint of the purple pink.
laffy taffy.. looks about like their photo.
Frostfire..looks about like their photo. I can tell this will be a winner.. unique baby blue coral.

People have to realize acros will vary from tank to tank and a lot of corals can take months to grow to a point where they start to color up.
Considering the price I don't really see the big deal here. Some of those acro packs when you break it down aren't any more expensive than most regular ole' acro prices.

I don't have a name for it got it as a frag when I setup the tank it has turned into one of my best.
