Tds 35 help

DI resin containers do not produce waste water. The resin absorbs and holds the impurities until it can hold no more. You pump water in and the same amount exits.

Sediment is sediment. Whole particles.
TDS is dissolved solids. For example chlorine is a dissolved solid.

I believe your high nitrates are caused by something in your well water.

I tested the nitrates from the water and it came back at 0 which is why I was so confused. I am very new tank been up for almost 5 months and I was having problems with my zoes opening so was trying to figure out what was going on, some people was saying 35tds straight from faucet was awesome and ok too use. But was shocked when the nitrates came back so high as my fish look so good and act normal as do my snails...but my shrimp did die, that was only thing I have lost is shrimp and I was also feeding way way to much, I have changed too feeding 5 very small meals aday.

I am going to try to get a di system that sounds awesome..

If you use a sediment filter and DI only there will be zero waste.

That is so awesome I didn't know that. I am dumb but how would I set something like that up? To a hose? And send to a holding tank.

If your tap water is o nitrates, over feeding could be the cause of your high nitrates. If your fresh water tanks are doing well then your water is prob ok. I do know people that use well water. I would do some 25% water changes over the next few weeks to get that nitrate down to 10 to 20 and see what reaction your zoas have. Also vac/siphoning your sand bed is a good way to get rid of all the extra old food and waste. You can also feed frozen and live foods if you are not already. Live foods do not add as much nitrate or phosphate to the water when they break down as do pellets and flakes.
Here is an example of a dual di resin set up with meters on both ends (1). You can see what tds is going in and what is coming out. They make a single canister and they also sell it with out the meters. You will need to hook it up to your tap water. There is a connector that will screw on the end of a hose (2). You can get a "Y" connector (3). It will split the water connection. The "Y" can be added to a connection, like for a washing machine. The "Y" can be turned on when you need to make water . You will need some extra 1/4 tubing if it does not come withe canisters .You can buy it online or at the big box hardware stores. It can be sold by the foot or in rolls depending on how far you need to go. As always the shorter the distance the less pressure you need.
Hope this helps explain a bit more.

I'm at a loss as to why you can't run an rodi unit. Just shut off the feed when you don't need to make water. You can capture the waste water for reuse for laundry and such.

Yes, but perhaps a lot of cost replacing the DI 10-50 times faster than with an RO/Di.
