TDS greater after DI resin

So I replaced the di resin with the mix color changing resin from brs that I had sitting around. The next day the resin was completely exhausted. I only made 5 gallons last night and turned it off before I went to sleep. Now the TDS post resin is 55 and pre resin is 9. Any clue what is going on here?
 
I had that same issue once. At the end of the day if I remember correctly it was the Top seal on the DI canister that was not making a proper seal and letting direct Ro water get directly past it. The initial high reading was because whatever grime was on the inside DI housing was mixing with the RO water and raising the TDS. I found if I ran the water for 20 minutes the TDS dropped to slightly lower than the Ro Water but would not get down to 0 until I changed the seal. Also note that back flushing the RO membrane makes a huge difference in performance.

I have an RO buddie so there isn't a way the water can bypass the DI

You said you had some Di resin that was "sitting around". How long was it in storage and was it tightly sealed against humidity and air? Di resin can go bad if exposed to air as it will adsorb CO2 and that will break down the anion binding resin. Short of that as the problem I am out of ideas as to what is going on.

It was wrapped up in the brs bag and then in a plastic ziplock bag. I am thinking what is happening is the RO may need to flush before it enters the DI which can produce massive TDS for less than a minute but I am not sure if that is the case since it changed overnight and I haven't had this happen at this speed before (I usually don't bother with DI as I burn through it so fast for some reason).

I suspect that your Ro filter needs serious flushing and if that does not work it needs replacing.
And yes at 55 your going to burn through Di resin about ten times faster than a normal system would.

It was only 55 after the di, but when I removed the di it went down to 9.
 
Change your Resin, it's gone bad!
 
I have had di resin from diff places that went bad very very quick. Not as quick as yours but I am talking color changing after days when it normally lasts me months... i don't quite understand it. I reorder from a trusted place and back to normal performance. It has happened twice in the last couple of years.
