Just curious how high do you let your TDS get before changing your filters and membrane? Just tested ours and after six months its now reading 3. Not trying to be cheap but whats the safe zone? I have replacements ready to go but considering some how a LFS in this area is getting away with selling theirs at higher levels than my tap I was just curious.

40B mixed reef
Thanks

I change pre filters every 6 months regardless as this is what keeps your membrane good, membrane when it shows a rejection rate < 99% (what mine is rated at and it lasted me 6 years), and DI when it reads 1 (lasts me 2 years).

I use spectrapure filters since they are the highest quality and are meant to last longer.

If you are burning filters fast then you may be using the wrong filters, small ones (RO BODDY isn't great for every water source), or need more stages of pre filters if the TDS is high or perhaps you have chloramines. You could also have high CO2. All of these things can burn your filters out and you need to fix/change your set up if so. Not everyone's tap is the same so you want something that works for YOUR tap.

If it's an in line meter, then technically anything above zero means the DI is exhausted. In a storage barrel can be misleading.

Membranes very rarely need replaced.

I just replace my sediment, carbons, and DI yearly.
