tds meter

This chart shows their handheld meters in order from so -so to top of the line.

You may find the COM-100 as low as $45-$50 but probably not much lower than that but it is their top of the line instrument.
To me, I'm kind of anal about water quality so it was worth the extra one time investment. I did have the TDS-4TM before though and never had a problem with it either but wanted a little more accuracy so switched.

Ok so question is if I am getting a high reading from what ever meter I buy what do I need to do to fix the problem? I just bought this ro/di unit from spectrapure it was the refurbished one that i believe AZ recommended. Here is the link to it SpectraPure - Great Deals on All your Water Management needs! I've had enough problems from this tank without adding more HA issues

btw I can not keep a acro alive longer than 3 days to save my life or its so im pretty sure i have water issues

Sediment and carbon block filters have very little to absolutely nothing to do with TDS, they remove suspended solids, big chunks, and chlorine.

To know where your problem lies you need 3 TDS readings, tap water, RO onl and RO/DI. You also need to know your water pressure and water temperature and your exact measured waste ratio. Hopefully you took the time to measure your waste and trim the flow restrictor according to your unique water conditions? Also I hope you have not tried belnding hot and cold water feeding the system and have kept the membrane and DI wet at all times?
If you can supply the above I can probably point you in the right direction.

I did measure the waste to good ratio and cut the restrictor so that I have a 4/1 ratio. I will check it again tonight when i make new water. my facuet has only one lever instead of the two knobs so the temp of the water varies some im sure from cool to warm it has been hot once and I've seen it cold a few times. I try to keep it just slightly cool. I've left water in the system sense its been opened from the box so it should all still be good and wet. I'm looking at tds meters now and hope to have one by next week. It has a pressure gague on it and I try to turn my sink on to about 60 pounds. Did I answer all you need?

What are the three TDS readings, the water pressure and the water temperature? Those are all needed to offer any help at all. You can't own a RO/DI and know anything about its condition without a pressure gauge, TDS meter and thermometer. All have a huge bearing on the final TDS.
