The COM-100 is probably the best most accurate handheld TDS meter for the hobbyist, it reads in tenths unlike all the others and can be calibrated in three different modes for extreme low end accuracy.
If thats out of your budget HM Digital also makes the TDS-3 and TDS-4 handhelds which are both good meters and offer a digital temperature read out too.
Inlines do not have the portability a handheld has nor are they as accurate since they read air temperature and not water temperature. The inline probes are dedicated to two points and cannot be dipped in a glas of water or storage tank so they are limited in functionality. I have two of them plus my COM-100 and I much prefer the handheld.
