Hey guys sorry about starting a new thread for this, I couldn't find anything on here about the reading im getting on my tds meter. I recently installed a new meter and I'm getting a reading of 22 from line 2 ( red line into system) and I'm wondering if this is ok seeing how it's the line into the system from the plumbing?

iamahab,

Can you explain this a little better so we understand your question? Is the line you are measuring from an RODI system or from your tap water or maybe from your mixing station?

If it is from your RODI and it is the output from the DI canister it is way too high. If it is from the tap, you have very good tap water but you should still filter it. If it is from your mixing station it has no meaning as saltwater will never read 0 TDS.

It seems you are saying it is from your tap into an RODI, if so it is not just fine but very good. Mine read 400-600 TDS on from my tap.

It's the line from under my sink running into the rodi unit

That's the tap water line. 22 is a very good number. The RODI will take it down to 0 even from much higher numbers (last time I made RODI my tap water line was 480 TDS). With TDS that low going into the RODI your filters should last a pretty long time.

The much more important line to monitor is the line out of your RODI. Don't let that go above 0. Also your last filter cartridge should be a color-changing DI filter. It goes from dark to a rust color as it gets used up. Change it before it turns completely rust colored. Most suggest changing it when it is somewhere around 75-80% rust colored (they change from the bottom up). There are a few videos on BRS Investigate YouTube channel on RODI units that are worth watching as well.

We are at 40-50 out of TAP here in NYC but the amount of sediments is just crazy. My pre-filter turns kaka-brown in a week.

To the OP, 22 TDS out of TAP is a really good starting point.

Thanks guys. I'm new to saltwater tanks and it's a relief to have have another issue pop up. I'm still under the minimum pressure ( I'm at about 45 psi) but I'm looking into a pressure booster to solve that.
