I found out yesterday that my ten-year-old handheld TDS meter became very inaccurate. I have an inline TDS meter (a few years old) on my RODI unit, but I still use the handheld one periodically to check if the DI resin is still doing its job. The values of the two testers were very different (48 on the handheld vs. 8 on the inline at the outlet of RO). The tester has been recalibrated a few times over the years using the NaCl calibration fluid. I just put a pair of new batteries, too. However, the value of the TDS meter drifted a lot, and I could no longer calibrate the old tester. I’m afraid that it’s time to get another one.
