Tonight I was testing my tank parameters and found I had high Po4 levels and have been unable to figure out why until I tested my salt water in my mixing station and found it to be testing at .031PPM.
I have a 8 stage RODI unit that’s putting out 0 TDS on my in line meter and both hand held meters. I use fritz salt and food grade barrels for my mixing station.
I began some research and am now under the belief that one or more of the following are taking place..
A) My salt has organics in it causing high Po4.
B) 0 TDS does not mean 0 phosphate as tds meters as far as I know can only detect as low as 1ppm which is still too high.
C) My mixing containers need a further vinegar bath.
D) My RODI filters are exhausted despite putting out 0 TDS.
With all of that said I will be testing Po4 of the fresh water from the RODI system itself and the freshwater barrel itself to see where the source is coming from. I am also wondering if there is a better grade of tds meter out there that can detect under 1ppm of Po4 or should using a ULR Po4 tester for RODI water become regular practice?
