TDS metter shows 40ppm, is it ok ?

hello,

i have a bucket that fills with osmosis water every-week, but it stands there for a few days after each filling before i change water again

when i test the water straight from the system it gives me 25 but when i test it from the bucket i get 40

is it something that needs attention?

Coming directly from the RODI your TDS optimally would be 0. 1 or 2 is no big deal, but much higher and it’s time to change your filters out. Most containers like your bucket will leach some TDS although that doesn’t seem to be a major issue.
 
The question is whether it's a straight RO system or an RODI system. The TDS would be normal for regular RO.

the containers are 3.5 month old

Fill a new ziplock baggy with water right out of the hose and check it. Those are super clean you should get an accurate result. My guess is you probably have a dirty bucket.
 
I think maybe your bucket is dirty, maybe it's your salt mixing bucket or something and there is residue? Test in a clean glass cup that you rinsed with your RO water
 
Since your system is using solid white canisters, it is hard to tell what kind of system you are exactly running. My guess would be 1 sediment and 2 carbon block based on your TDS readings. Optimal would be 1 sediment, 1 carbon and 1 DI resin if you're going to keep to a three canister unit.
 
Either way it looks like just a regular RO system, in which case the TDS sounds about right since he doesn't have the DI portion to take it down to 0.
 
What's your TDS entering the system?? While I agree it looks like your system is strictly an RO system and you do need a DI stage which is easily installed in the system you already have, 25 TDS after your RO is pretty darn high. Do you know what the rejection rate of your membrane is supposed to be?
 
25TDS out of your unit is a problem, and I agree that it looks like RO only. I had one that looked identical to that before it cracked. I'd add on the BRS two stage DI linked above.
 
As others stated, something is wrong with the membrane. Either it is bad or not hooked up correctly. Checking the specs on your membrane, you should be seeing a 98% rejection rate which would put your tap water at over 1200 tds.
 
Also the 3rd canister cold hold Di resin Just needs the line moved to a different port. Thay way it could have one sediment 1 carbon,1 Di resin. I personally run 2 carbons in lieu of the sediment. My Ro membrane has lasted well beyond my expectations.

BRS sells a color changing resin that will show you when it's time to change it. Changes from a dark blue/purple to a light brown color.

Once again, do you have a way of testing the TDS of your tap water before the RO unit? 25 is pretty high. And you will know when to change your DI Resin when your TDS gets above 0 after the DI stage.

Replace it when the TDS rises above 0 ppm. :)
