Not to dwell on this but the text from your LFS (in post #1) notes that they also sell RO/DI water.
*just seems like simplest change without disrupting your whole (current) process

I agree, don’t know why they wouldn’t just give me RODI water it’s not like I lowball them on anything …

There are far too many variables in a reef tank to use tds to gage anything.

It will be over 40,000 ppm tds. Its just a measure of salinity.
