tds tester

I got my new TDs tester today. The ro water I use tested at 88ppm. My tap water tested at 404ppm. What should my ro water be for my reef tank?

Do u have an rodi unit?or just ro? The water you put in your tank should be 0 tds. I know some that use up to 5 tds but I would never add anything over that.

No ro unit. I have been buying bottled water from a local store that sells 5 gallon bottles drinking water. It is suppose to be ro water. This is why I ordered the TDs meter. And probably why I can't get rid of the diatom algae. Guess its time to invest in an ro/di unit.

If your tap water tests at 404, expect to be replacing the DI resin frequently. Possibly monthly. Don't forget the auto shutoff and pick up a dual inline TDS meter while you are at it.
