Tell me about orange passion

I've been considering in spending the coin and picking up an Orange Passion frag. For those of you who have been successful with it, can you please tell me what kind of par it likes?

I have anywhere from 250 up to 600 at the top of my rock work.

Also, is it more on the resilient side, or is it crankier?

You can pound it with as much light as you like as long as you aclimate it. Mine sits about 20 inches from my light so somewhere in 650 par range.

650 par at 20", that is some light. Would have to be 400w MH with some T5 supp

It’s super resilient. Last acro to die in my crash a couple of years ago. I have mine High up, in high flow. It hasn’t done much except encrust.

The acro will do pretty well under almost any lighting and flow. The higher you put it PAR wise the more color you will get, IMO to a certain extent. I wouldn't give it anything over 650 PAR

I named my Orange Passion, Susan.

Like other Acropora tenuis, it does well when exposed to higher light and indirect flow. Stable SPS parameters key to long-term success. Good luck!

Which one? The Sexy Corals one is really easy and can handle a lot of light. The Reef Raft one is different, but still not hard. IMO, the SC one is the best version.

I keep my SC OP under about 450-500 PAR in the tank, but it gets probably 750 in the frag tank when I frag it and it looks good. 14k spectrum with not too much blue... it can get dull under too much blue, IME... this one needs no tricks to look great.

It deserves to be called a high end coral. One of those corals that looks good under white or blue lights. One of my top five for sure.

Mine likes it at 350-400par and good flow. Grows like a weed.

That’s not the normal price. I would expect to pay $100 -150 depending on size.

Retail and shows are not the same. Plus, I don't think that Boom sends out boogers.

This is one of the best corals to come out of the last 5 (or whatever years). It needs no trick lighting, does well in most tanks and is unique. Fox Flame is right up there too. I expect either of these to still be on wish-lists in another decade.

60 to 70 sounds reasonable.

Best coral is very subjective. I think the PC Rainbow in one of the best corals out there.
I don't mind waiting till they are in the PC Rainbow price range.

I think it's one of those must have corals, once you have it or see it grown out and happy you will always want one. I thin lineage is important with this coral, their are a number of different Orange Passion corals, and i am sure some fakes mixed in. I personally like the SC (Sexy Corals OP), so I would pay more for one with solid lineage and some pics of the mother colonies if possible. I would say it's rather hardy when it's happy and established in your tank. However, I took mine for granted and started moving it around and thought it was bullet proof, finally one day as I was moving it it just up started RTN. Now, all I have is a frag I am growing out again.

Very hardy coral in my opinion. I have mine, which is still a frag, on the bottom of my tank. Not sure how much par I'm getting but its kept nice color and nice pe. Grows pretty slow in my tank.
