i had been keeping my tank at 80-81 today I changed my heater temp to around 76 before I left my tank was really warm and i had been told heat would cause corals to act funny. Well I come home from the store and several of my corals are closed up. Could it be due to the change and will adjust

Try increasing slowly. 2 degrees max a day. Most people shoot for 78.

Have you checked the temperature with a thermometer? The heater temp gauge could just be off and that 76 may actually be 74 (which means that when you had it set at 80 it may have actually been a perfect 78).

80-81 shouldn’t cause issues. You can safely drop the temperature where you want it. If you don’t have a temp controller you are playing with fire - sooner or later your heater’s thermometer will fail.
