I just ordered some sps frags and the current ones aren't doing so great. Not really sure what it is. Lights or flow... I have someone coming over to give me some pointers.

I have everything i need to set up a small qt tank.
IM nuvo 20,
2 mp10s
Radion gen3 xr30pro
I have some marine pure blocks in my current established tank and some marine pure balls I can move into the tank.

Can I use this as a temp setup until everything is in check? I can pick up a doser if needed.

How often should I donwater changes and do I need a fish in the tank as well?
Thanks

I don't see why not.

Quality salt water changes should keep up with any calcium and alkalinity needs. If its temporary a fish isn't necessary, imo, but something like a sixline wrasse wouldn't hurt, as they often eat pests off corals anyways.

I'd stick to 3-5g water changes every two weeks personally.

Anything else I should do? Skimmer, reactor for gfo or carbon? Should I run carbon and purigen? Would I be better off without a fish? There's a nice pie of clowns at the LFS I've been eyeing? Should I feed the tank or add anything special? Would the marine pure balls be enough? How often should I test the water? I'm good to do 3-5 gallon changes weekly to every other.

It really boils down to how long you plan on keeping this set up...couple days, weeks, months?

This is just my opinion, but I don't think you'll need a skimmer, or fish, though again a sixline may help.

You won't need to feed the corals, just the fish. A reactor with matrix or carbon, don't think you'll need gfo, wouldn't hurt. Id stick to once every two weeks for water changes so as not to shock the system.
