What is the best place to put the heater and probe to keep the temp most stable? Building a 90 gallon and trying to keep as stable as possible. I run my tanks around 78 but with the apex notice that temp swings quite a bit. I usually keep the heater and probe in sump. Maybe a dumb question but just curious.

I keep mine same place. I never get more than a 0.1 swing. I have my probe in skimmer compartment and heater right next to the return compartment, so that the water has to make a complete trip around that tank before it hits probe. What you have your hysteresis set at?

Heaters on one side of the sump and the temp probe on the opposite end. Cooling fans in the conopy. I get about a full degree of temp swing in the summer but that is due to the A/C of the house not being on while we are not there. In the cooler months I allow a .3 degree swing from the temp the heaters turn on until they turn off so that they are not constantly cycling on and off every few minutes. Rather, they are on for 15+ minutes at a time and off for 20+ minutes...

I tried both in sump and both in tank and noticed more swing when in sump. The flow wasn't to my liking in the sump setup I had so I plan to run a powerhead to keep water circulated maybe that will help. My small tank is running with heater in sump and the temp seems to stay constant with it. Im anxious to see what it looks like when get the module and cable set up for it to run on the apex.

I have mine in a pretty high flow area of the sump. In the winter the only swing I get is the hysteresis of my rke. I have it at .1 or .2. In the summer I have the same thing setup for summer temps of 79.5. Winter is 78.5. My heat never runs in the summer.
