Sounds like you really do not need a heater. Get a fan instead.

I use a inkbird controller. Only thing I don't like is it let's the tank drop 1* below the target temp before it turns the heaters on. So my tank cycles between 78and 77 all day

I recently discovered one of my heaters (Eheim) would stick on and went with an InkBird to control it,
Like @Smokeshow mentions it drops 1 degree from temp setting before it turns on the heater. I have it set at 78 and it keeps the temp around 77.

My temp hasn’t moved all night, it’s stayed at a 77.4. I will look into the ink birds

Sounds like a calibration issue with a heater. I have an Eheim, which is supposed to be factory calibrated. The setting is at 73 in order to achieve 77 in the tank. Inkbird controller is on my shopping list as well.

That’s good.
But keep an eye on the heater. I thought my problem was solved for a day or so only to find my heater was stuck on again and I couldn’t get it to turn off by changing the setting, had to unplug.
