Does anyone get temperature fluctuations of 4-5 degrees in their tank water?

Is this normal? & Will a 4-5 degree changes from time to time stunt coral growth in any shape or form?

I noticed these fluctuations because sometimes my tank water feels warmer, and other times more cooler feeling.

My usual temeprature range is 75-80 degrees F range usually. I read today 75 one day and another day 80 degreen F.

So it this natural or too much?

* ill update this thread again but i think it may have been due to needing to top of the water, so the temperature was a bit warmer than usual.

if it happens again ill psot back up here.

What is the time period in which it fluctuates 5 degrees? 2-3 degrees in 24 hours is OK. I try to stay within 2 degrees/24 hours. As with anything else in the hobby, stability is key. If you are talking 5 degrees warmer during the summer, that is expected unless you are running a chiller of maxing out your air conditioner. 75 to 80 is an acceptable range for temps, also. Just look out for sudden swings.

5 degrees is alot in a short period of time.
My tank ranges from 77-79 in a day.
You need to find the root of the problem:
1. cheap themometer (inaccurate reading)
2. to much evaporation...get a ATO if you dont have one...or just make it refill RO quicker
3. You may need a chiller and heater and a controller.
4. there are many more reasons and fixes. Just find out the cause and fix.

A reefer will say to keep it between 2degrees flatuation in a 24hr period. Im have 3degrees and my tank is fine though.

5 degrees is pushing it, 1 hot or cold snap could crash your tank.
You could wake up with a tank at 85 or 70 and that would suck.
