It is not even hot yet and my tank is running at 80.4 degrees in my classroom. In the summer the AC will be off in the building? I am considering a fan or two blowing on the tank to cool ambient air around it during the summer? will this work? Do i need to try to find funds for a chiller? Any tips or help would be appreciated...

If you have a open top you can have a small fan blowing on the top. This will increase the amount of evaporation so make sure you have an ato.

How hot will the ambient temp get?

not sure how hot it will get in the building I think they set ac to 85 in the summer. Problem with open lid is my Goby is a jumper? and light are on lid biocube LED.

I am concerned if I take it home how will this effect the ecosystem? Coral Growth? Moving will surely cause issues? This tank belongs to my students they have already developed a schedule for who will be coming to school to help with maintenance throughout the summer. CHeapest true chiller I have found is $280.... know of anything cheaper that will keep coral and fish safe?

How big is the tank?

I have installed this chiller on a 30g tank for my cousin. This works well.

Best thing to do, add this chiller, mesh cover and fan!!

See if turning the lights on during the night instead of day help and make sense. I don’t know if anyone will be viewing the display during the day and hence the thought.

Reduce photo period to 8hrs max.

I would start getting funds for a chiller for piece of mind. You don't have direct access to the schools cooling system and so in the end it will be more effective & less expensive to run a chiller then cool a school and try to run fans. Look around for a used one. It is all the same basic stuff as a Refrigerator so maybe an AC tech can donate a system review if you buy used.

screen/mesh top. will allow evaporation as well as keep fish in. lots of options, all very cheap.
