Hey Fellow Reefers!

Last week I went on vacation and increased our house temperature while away. The unintended result was that the tank temperature rose from a normal 77.5 degrees to 80 degrees.... and the PH also rocketed up to 8.6! When we returned home, the ph dropped in-line with the temperature.

Perhaps this is an Apex probe issue, but I thought it was interesting to see the correlation between ph and temperature change.

I've seen some posts about this on R2R in the past, but never with this kind of visual indication.

The tank is thriving - just thought it'd be interesting to share!

Interesting… I knew that was an effect, but surprised it can cause a 0.3 swing

It can be even greater. My house is foam insulated and air tight (live in Arizona). When we close the house up for the summer, my pH goes through the floor. Even with a scrubber I'm lucky to hit 8.1 during the day. Then, in the fall/winter, when we open the house back up, it's over 8.3 easy.
